Hashim Amla, South Africa's second most noteworthy Trial scorer ever, has resigned at 39 years old.

Amla scored 9,282 runs - second just to Jacques Kallis' 13,206 - at a normal of 46.64 in 124 Tests.

He amassed 18,672 in all organizations for the Proteas from 2004 to 2019, and nobody has scored more than his 27 one-day hundreds of years for South Africa.

Amla's 311 not out against Britain at The Oval in 2012 remaining parts the most elevated Grade by a South African.

He was important for the Surrey group that brought home the Area Title in 2022, having resigned from worldwide cricket three years sooner.

Amla arrived at the midpoint of 49.46 in 181 one-day internationals and 33.60 in 44 T20 internationals and finishes his five-star profession with 19,521 runs at a normal of 48.55.

Previous Britain chief Alec Stewart, who worked with Amla at Surrey, depicted him as "an extraordinary of the game".

 

He expressed: "Everybody at Surrey District Cricket Club will be miserable to see Hashim resign, yet we as a whole extol what has been a wonderful profession.

 

"Hashim is a phenomenal cricketer and a brilliant individual. He has been a fantastic asset for the group to gain from on and off the field."
